The debut album by Tómarúm, from Atlanta, Georgia, USA is out now through Prosthetic Records on streaming services, with both download and physical on Bandcamp:
Tómarúm is 'Progressive Blackened Anguish' with long and atmospheric songs. They sent me the bass parts and I recorded the album in 2021, while adding a little of my own taste and my own bass solos which I think came out well and I filmed the recording of for some BTS (below).
The album also features Spencer Moore of Inferi on drums, who I toured with in 2019 on the USA 'Stay Tech' tour when Inferi and Virvum were both on the Archspire-headlined bill. Little did I know, but this was my final big tour before Covid hit.
Honestly, I would have preferred a slightly less processed bass sound, but it seems to match what they were going for in the mix and this album has been getting a lot of positive attention, which I'm thankful for. Also, because the songs generally range between 8 and 15 minutes with the album clocking in at just over an hour, the album is available on a cool double-vinyl!
I recorded all the tracks with my Carillion 6-string fretless with Bartolini pickups and Rotosound RS66 roundwound strings, into my Aguilar Tone Hammer preamp DI, into my Focusrite interface.
Which is your favourite song?
All the best,
Arran
