Something a bit different! This is a 5-track acoustic guitar EP and I play fretless on 3 tracks, including ebow on 1 track! The album is out now on all streaming services, or to download on Bandcamp:
I've also put together a Bass Transcription Digi-book for the tracks I played on the EP. The first half of the book has the transcriptions of the tracks in both tablature and standard notation and the second half of the book has the songs written again, but only in standard notation. Matt and I have known each other for years, and have lectured together at music college, but this is the first time we've worked together on our own music. I knew Matt played acoustic guitar, so I'd mentioned to him that if he ever wanted to work with fretless bass as a duet then I'd love for him to give me a call - so he did!
He wrote the 3 tracks that I'm featured on with a 'duet' in mind, but he gave me free-reign to play whatever I heard over the tracks, and I'm very happy with how the album came out. It's a very relaxing EP and we enjoyed the process so much that we now have an album in the works.
I recorded all the tracks with my Carillion 6-string fretless with Bartolini pickups and Rotosound RS66 roundwound strings, straight into my SSL2 interface (my first recording with it).
